Synopsis:
Varnish is powerful HTTP cache that accelerates more than 10 million active websites. It features the Varnish Configuration Language (VCL), a built-in programming language that allows you to tailor the caching behavior to your exact needs. Varnish is also supported by a variety of frameworks and CMS’s, either natively, or through plugins. In this presentation, Thijs will introduce you to Varnish and some of the VCL basics. He’ll show you how to integrate Varnish in various frameworks and CMS’s like WordPress, Drupal and Magento. Thijs will also explain how you can integrate other frameworks, and how to deploy Varnish on various platforms. Deployment scenarios will include Linux packages, Cloud deployments, and running Varnish on Docker and Kubernetes. In the end you’ll learn how to accelerate your web applications, protect them from large traffic spikes, and how to deploy and integrate Varnish.
